I assume since you have EW products you use a DAW already? In the same way a single reverb plugin won't suit every style you do, KK won't always fit in every square hole. It works great as a "preset manager" for a single layer of instrument and it's best used to quickly find sounds and get going but if you need multi-timbral instruments and layering you are best designing your own setup that works on a per-project basis because the amount of flexible setup is just far too broad to fit in a simple preset and over a few pages of controls. Thing to keep in mind tho is "Komplete Kontrol" is kind of a misleading name which they really should have thought about more when designing the product because it is not a "Komplete" solution to all setups. It would probably make no difference to complain, the problem is with the KK plugin and how it offers the features to host a plugin.

No simple answer other than to spend time figuring out how to best manage this situation in your setup. So basically you are kind of screwed no matter how you approach it and especially for designing orchestral kits it makes it painful and personally I don't use KK in these situations.

That will allow playing of the instruments BUT when you switch to one of these secondary channels you lose the smart control features. If each instrument layer is set to a separate MIDI channel you cannot change channels on the KK keyboard (which is stupid I know) so to access the extra channels you need a DAW and additional tracks set to transmit on different channels. However, if you find a multi-instrument preset you want to make controllable you should be able to make your own custom template by just adding additional pages and adding the additional controls for each layer then saving that as a user preset.

Komplete Kontrol is simply not designed for this purpose. This is the case with most multi-timbre instruments like Omnisphere and Kontakt etc.

Basically, every preset for East West simply offers control of the first layer and not additional layers of an instrument. Click to expand. This is a limitation of how the Komplete Kontrol engine works and the fact that East West haven't developed in-depth NKS integration on a per-preset basis.
